The Notebook Series Volume 1


The notebook series was created during the 2020 global quarantine and is an
internalization of the events that the artist experienced in such an unusual time, a time
of solitude, introspection, and personal challenges.

BIOGRAPHY YUL VÁZQUEZ

Yul Vázquez is a Cuban-American actor, artist and musician. His artistic journey started as a drummer at five years old and he has continued to create since then; photography, songs, paintings and a diverse list of characters in movies and television. 
 

He has collaborated with Spanish actor and artist Jordi Mollà in a mixed media body of work where his photographs were intervened by Mollà painting over them creating a raw and colorful urban style mixed media piece. His most recent artworks are a series of drawings titled “The Secret Notebooks Volume1”. the notebook series was created during the 2020 global quarantine and is an internalization of the events that the artist experienced in such an unusual time, a time of solitude, introspection, and personal challenges.
 

Seamlessly moving between film, television, and stage, Vázquez received a SAG Award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture for the Steven Soderbergh directed film, TRAFFIC, as well as a Tony Award nomination, a Theatre World Award nomination, a Drama Desk, and an Outer Critics Circle Award nomination for his portrayal of 'Cousin Julio' in the Broadway production of THE MOTHERF**CKER WITH THE HAT.

Vázquez was most recently seen as detective Yunis Sablo in HBO’s THE OUTSIDER, based on Steven King’s best-selling novel of the same name, opposite Ben Mendelsohn and Cynthia Erivo.  Prior to this, Vázquez was seen on Netflix’s Emmy-nominated series, RUSSIAN DOLL opposite Natasha Lyonne, and created by Lyonne, Amy Poehler and Leslye Headland; and on TNT’s miniseries I AM THE NIGHT, directed by Patty Jenkins and opposite Chris Pine. He will next be seen in Hulu’s upcoming feature film, BOOKS OF BLOOD.
